Rich Franklin to Star in Feature Film "The Weapon"
Katalyst, a local talent agency, in conjunction with American Fighter Management secured the role for Mr. Franklin.
Rich Franklin, former 3 time UFC Middleweight Champion, began filming "The Weapon" November 19th in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Rich will be playing the title role of Isaac, who is indeed "The Weapon".
He plays opposite of Bruce Greenwood and Tiffani Thiessen. Mr. Greenwood is known for playing opposite of Will Smith in I, Robot and just signed a deal to star in the new Star Trek trilogy. Ms. Thiessen is known for her roles in Saved by the Bell and Beverly Hills, 90210.
Mr. Franklin's agent Kat McEntee began speaking with the LA based casting director Dean Fronk in October. Negotiations continued into November between the production, Katalyst and Mr. Franklin's manager JT Stewart.
"The Weapon" is being produced by Peace Arch Entertainment. Peace Arch produces or acquires three to six films per year for international and domestic theatrical distribution. They have offices in Toronto, Los Angeles, New York and Vancouver.
Rich is looking forward to working on this project before preparing for his next fight. He will finish filming in mid December.
